Carbohydrates are compounds that has C, H & O. Sugars are a main component of carbohydrates.
Sugars can be simple or complex organic compounds. Monosaccharides include glucose, fructose & galactose. Glucose is also known as blood sugar, while fructose is commonly called fruit sugar. Galactose are only found in milk. All 3 of the above has the same chemical formula : C6H12O6, but each with different organization.
Disaccharides are complex sugars which result when 2 simple sugars bond together. Sucrose consists of 1 glucose and 1 fructose. Other examples include Lactose, Trehalose & Maltose.
Polysaccharides are, as its name suggests, 3 or more simple sugars bonded together. Common examples include Starch and Cellulose. Those are only found in plants. Glycogen are found in animals, and it helps animals to store energy in the liver and muscles.
