ESME in Austria

In Austria there were more than 600 clinical cases of serious diseaeses every year until the innovation of the vaccination. There are areas of high risk with numerous cases occure regularly along the Danube between Passau and Linz as well as in the Wachau and around St. Pölten, furthermore around and south of Wien. Parts of the Burgenland, Kärnten and Steiermark along the Hungarian and Slowenien border are also areas of high risk. Due to direct vaccination of the population in endemic areas the number occuring diseases was lowered considerably.
