Team Plan

The greatest difficulty in working with a topic is how to attract the largest audience. The audience is often a valuable asset in developing a web page into an interactive site. Their guidance and input determine the future direction of a site. With this in mind we spent countless hours devising a site plan that would attract the most users to resources available here. In turn we hope they will help guide our site along its path.

Our plan consists of many paths, each related to the central topic, golf. Each path leads to a different educational experience related to golf. The users will be able to hike across the physics of golf, walk by the how to play golf section, stroll through the health of golf, climb over the psychology of golf, breeze by up-to-date information about current golfers in the profiles sectino and courses, step through techniques to playing golf.

Our site will have mirrored versions in English, German, Spanish, and Italian. This is all in the hopes of bringing enjoyment and education to students all over the world. Even this, leaves some people out. Many surfers have slow Internet connections and use a variety of different browsers. To bridge this gap, we are developing two graphic levels (high and low) to allow user with fast connections to get the most out of their experience, and users with slow connections to get a chance to enjoy the internet without falling asleep as pages are loaded.

As was described in the overview, each path cannot be static, but must be full of life, interactivity, and lead to even more paths. If not, users won't come back. This is why we hope to incorporate Java and CGI that would allow users to not only read ... but interact with the site. In each section, there are newsgroups so you can talk to the rest of the world about whatever is on your mind! There are also chat facilities in each section so you can get online with someone that enjoys talking and talk up a storm about the topic at hand.

The use of these interactive tools will appear throughout the site. The physics book will be sprinkled throughout with interactive labs on the material covered and its application to golf. For education to be effective (especially for students who sit in classrooms six hours a day) it often needs to be spruced up with some sort of entertainment. So we made sure there was interactivity and multimedia in the form of movies, audio, and interesting graphics.

All of this leads to the title of our site, "The Golf Course." This title was well suited due to its various interpretations. Our interpretation, although I am sure you can think of many others, is an educational course on golf while exploring the frontiers of the Internet.
