Site Info Section In the complexities of this world, we have uncovered a new medium of communication ... the Internet. Corporations have caught on to the growing trend of advertisement over the Internet and have run some rather successful advertising campaigns through the Internet. People, as a society, have placed personal "advertisements" and personal pages on the Internet and have expanded it from a commercial web to an all around web. But the web doesn't stop here. It has since expanded from this state of "static pages" to a state of interactivity. This was all accomplished through the intervention of IRC chat rooms, JavaScripts, CGI scripts, and Active-X. Our objective, as pioneers in the ThinkQuest 97 competition, is to explore the trend of positive growth on the Internet through a frontier that is just beginning to be developed ... education on the Internet. Many Internet servers have graciously offered free web space to schools interested in developing a school web site. Also many nonprofit organizations are beginning to sprout up across the vast Internet offering "online school curriculums." We feel that it is this positive effort put forth into the Internet that will continue the enhancement of the Internet. Our Objective requires us to design a "unique", "one of a kind" web site that will aid all people. Our desire to construct a site consisting of educational material that will serve a variety of the user's needs takes our utmost attention. The construction of the site will be fun, informative, and easy to follow. No one topic will be discussed in mindless and boring detail. The idea is to construct a site that lays an even and consistent foundation for users to decide specifically what topic they would like to research and then lead them along a path to everything they need to know. When the users decide what topic they would like to further research, we will provide various other web sites that they can visit and explore. To make all this happen, careful consideration must be taken in the choice of topics. If the topic alienates large groups of people, the site hasn't fulfilled its objective in enhancing the way of life on the Internet. From all this we chose a topic that spans the sexes, races, backgrounds, personalities and even bridges the gaps between the continents. [We worked very hard to build bridges over the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, but it was no small task!] Our choice of topics came down to the selection of golf. Not only are we going to discuss golf, but we are designing a site that "teaches" either through the help of a teacher or just as an individual study project. You see, the site will be designed to be a class. Although we hope to write a curriculumn, the site should be explored by the user. We will include a Teacher's Corner so that teachers can meet and discuss how they can use the Internet in the classroom and more specifically, how they can use "The Golf Course" in their classroom.
