Reading The Story
The purpose of this section is to investigate how the
mind plays a role in golf. Often times is thought that
golf is all about technique. Practice, practice, practice
is the way to go because then your body can make a fluid
swing and hit the ball where you want to. Well that is
nice ... and part of golf is like that, but many people
have told us that there is more to golf than how you
swing the club.
Just like in life, golf requires a cool, calm, and
collected person. When things are going well, the person
must not get too excited about how well they are doing.
When things are going poorly, that same person must be
able to relax and concentrate only on the stroke being
made and less about how poorly they are playing. This is
a necessity to golf.
Still don't believe me? Well, whether you do or you
don't, there is a very exciting story about two couples
and two caddies as they make their way through 18 holes
of golf. Some play well ... others play poorly, yet they
are all playing the same game and must keep their head in
the game.
Before you read this story, please keep this in the
back of your mind: Bobby Jones once said, "Golf is a
game played on a five-inch course -- between your
ears." Enjoy!
