| Between
August 1992 and September 1994, he won 11 US Tour
events. This golden run of form included three
major championships. By the end of 1994 he was
the undisputed world number one. He didn't win
his first major title, the 1992 USPGA
Championship, until he was 35 years old. Price
has represented South Africa and Zimbabwe in the
World Cup. In 1978 he played for South Africa,
while 15 years later turned out for Zimbabwe. Price should have won the 1982
British Open at Royal Troon, where he led by two
strokes with five holes to play. But he covered
the final four holes in three over par to finish
in a tie for second, one stroke behind champion
Tom Watson. Price had dropped two shots at the
par-4 15th, then three-putted the par-3 17th for
a bogey-four. Price was also second in 1988, when
Seve Ballesteros won at Royal Lytham. At
Turnberry in 1994, Price finally won the British
Open, covering the last seven holes in four-
under-par, to pip Jesper Parnevik by one stroke.
Parnevik had bogied the final hole.
