Hello, everyone. I am Anthony. Currently, I am in Italy. Why you ask? Well, I have found myself in a very lucky position. You see, when I was applying for all the scholarships for college, my Italian teacher approached me about applying for a scholarship to spend my summer in Italy (exactly 1 month and 10 days), so I applied and guess what ... I won! So we are truly understanding the concept of a diverse team. I am in Italy. Jamie is in New Jersey. And Eugene is in Singapore. This is getting complicated! TQ Experience: My Thinkquest Experience started last year. In January of 1996 the "Internet" was a topic of conversation I stayed away from when ever it came up with people I happened to be with simply because I didn't have a clue what in the world it was. Much to my surprise that's exactly what it is, "the WORLD." In some respects anyway. In February I heard about this contest through a friend of mine who planed on participating in it. I got jealous and said to my self "why can't I give it a shot?" I recently took a great interest in computers and this was an opportunity to play with my computer all summer long for a prize. I still didn't know squat about the Internet but everything I was hearing about it seemed interesting. As soon as I was sure I had a group and topic I went out the book store and picked me up a big fat book on HTML. I read the manual cover to cover enjoyed every minute of it. I was really starting to get a handle on this HTML thing. By this time the contest had already started. In about June of 96 I had reached the CGI section of the HTML book. I liked what the HTML book had to say enough to go out and buy several more books on CGI and Perl. Well Come the end of July you can imagine what my bank account looked like if you are familiar with the costs of books especially BIG ones. To make a long story short I learned a lot as a result of this contest. Well, in case you were wondering, I was one of the 32 selected teams to attend Washington D.C. I flew down for a 5 day weekend that I will never forget. It was wonderful. I left taking an "Honorable Mention" position. So I am trying to win again! Future Plans: As I said, I am in Italy right now. I will come back home 2 days before I have to go to Stevens Institute Of Technology. I have decided to go into Computer Science as a major ... I wonder if that decision had anything to do with my experiences in Thinkquest '96. Anyway, it doesn't matter. Good bye from Italy!
