 Introduction
Hello, you have managed to end up at The Golf
Course's Psychology Section. By now, you know
that The Golf Course is a web site designed to
promote the game of golf, and as an educational
resourse to show that golf can be seen in a
variety of avenues of our lives. This particular
section (the Psychology Section) shows how
psychology plays a role in the game of golf. (For
those of you who have or haven't played golf ...
have you ever really thought how psychology can
play a role in golf? I hadn't!) Anyway, we have a
few sections to the psychology section of the web
site. They are outline for you below.
Story - "The
18 Holes"
For those of you who haven't yet had the pleasure
of taking a psychology course in your school, we
(the creators of this site) wrote a short story
about an 18 hole round of golf. In this story,
there are 4 golf players and 2 caddies. Some
golfers play well ... and others play poorly.
Even if you just like the plot ... it is a
thought provoking story.
As you read it, think to yourself ... have I
ever done that? Wow, I can see the stess that
these people are under ... and much, much more.
Everyone has some ability to understand
psychology because we are all human (atleast I
think so?) and we all seem to understand emotions
and how they affect us.
Talk To
The Golf Pro
Well, we called this section "Talk To The
Pro" because we interviewed the golf pro at
Baltusrol (Cindy Ferro) and she had many
interesting things to say. So we felt that you
would like to hear what it was that she had to
say!
In this section, we present 13 questions to
our pro relating to the psychology of golf and
she gave us her feelings and experiences. In each
question, you will find the ability to read her
response on the HTML page, listen to her response
(via WAV Format, Real Audio 14.4 and Real Audio
28.8), and view her response (via MOV Format and
Real Video 28.8). Try it out ... and enjoy
Teacher's
Corner
This section is for teachers. The Golf Course
Team designed this site so that it could be used
in the classroom environment. We worked closely
with our coaches to design suggested uses for
this site in the classroom. Please stop in and
check out how this site can be used in schools.
