How do you lower someone's expectations?

Response #1:

You know, what is interesting ... if you give them some statistics because they are only seeing the best in the world play their best that particular week ... that is all you see on TV. You don't see the rest of the field missing the cut and playing poorly. So you need to give them that perspective.


Response #2:

Putting especially, I will give them some statistics and the statistics from the tour are:

  • The best players in the world only make 80% of 3 foot putts. (And they think they should make every one.)
  • They only make 55% of 6 foot putts.
  • They only hit 70% of greens in a round.
And those are the ones that are leading the statistics in that particular area and if you give them some of that the go, "Oh Wow! Really?!" I don't belive that!
