When changed to "shoulder" putting?

When I first learned golf in the 1950's the pro's all used "wrist" putting (watch old Shell's Wonderful World of Golf films to see this). Sometime in the 1960's I seem to recall learning about "shoulder" putting as being more consistent and I switched. Does anyone know what year this change took place and who made it popular (probably by winning tournaments with it)?
