Latvia is a small country located in eastern Europe. Prior to 1918, latvia was occupied by the Russians and Germans. It was an independent republic from 1918 to 1939. It became a part of the Soviet Union in 1940. Latvia is now an independent country. The population of Latvia is 2,385,396.
