This is the composer window. You can type the addresses of the recipients in the lined section at the top. Put the subject of your message in the Subject line. The bottom section is for your message. It is customary to put a 'Signature' at the bottom of each message with your Name and e-mail address on it.
Press the Send button on the toolbar when you are ready to send your message.
