What do you need to drive on the
Information Superhighway?

Let's start with basics. You don't need a Driver's License. You don't need a car. But you will need a computer, an Internet connection, and a web browser. Everything else is extra. But we recommend everyone using some of the cool bells and whistles we make use of here. It will dramatically improve your Internet experience.

IMPORTANT: Today's latest web browsers incorporate many cool, new features. Some features have been included in the last few versions are pretty cool too. Not everyone is looking at these pages with those really cool browsers. Here is where you can get the latest Web browser software.

ALSO IMPORTANT: Get all of the fonts you'll need. Some web pages will look very awkward if your computer does not have certain fonts installed correctly. Be sure you have all of them. We've made a page of font-comparisons, and download / installation instructions for various systems.

What do I need to get started?

One of these decompression programs, and a little disk space. A web browser should also be used to find the files you want. For serious file freaks, get an FTP client also. Here is how you use FTP.

How do I download this stuff?

I would recommend creating a downloads directory or folder first. You can put all of the files you're going to be getting in it. For how to create a folder, check here.

What kind of software should I get?

Whatever kind you're interested in. Here is some that we've scrounged up for you. Click on the category, and we'll take you to a page from where you can get the programs you've been looking for. Each category has both Mac and Windows/Win95 files, as well as instructions for each program.

Where can I get more?
