solutions of salt water and timed
how long it took an ice cube to

how long it took to melt an ice
cube in just plain water. It took
MUCH longer for the ice cube to
melt in salt water. Could someone
explain why this happened in very
basic terms to me. This is
supposed to be a project for ele
kids, so basic is best. Thanks.

Please help!!!!!

The normal melting pt. of Ni is
1452'C. The vapor pressure of
liquid Ni is .100 Torr at 1606'C
and 1.00 Torr at 1805'C. The molar
heat of fusion of Ni is 4.25
kcal/mol. Make the reasonable
approximation that the normal
melting pt. and triple pt. are the
same, estimate the vapour pressure

Message: chemistry sucks. i want to believe
in magic, in the possibility of
beautiful things happening simply
because they are beautiful.
chemistry takes that away from me,
it explains away all the wonderful
things in the world and reduces
them to atoms and bonds and
charges and all that other crap.
by explaining the reason the
northern lights appear, or why
snowflakes form the way they do,
they're no longer beautiful things
that exist to be beautiful and
appreciated. they become protons
and electrons and photons which
can all be predicted and measured
and calculated with the right
tools. all the beauty and mystery
in the world disappears and is
replaced by tiny little particles
which we don't even know exist.
and that, my dear friend, is why
chemistry sucks.
