Master's and Doctoral degrees are the next step after one has received one's Bachelor's degree. Master's and Doctoral degrees are taken separately and in that order. They both consist of a period of studying advanced topics and a period of writing an innovative thesis paper. These degrees span over several years, but are restricted by a completion time limit.
