A Bachelor's degree is usually earned after four or five full time years of university. After a student's first year he/she must choose a configuration for the remainder of his/her education. Students may choose a major (where the program emphasis is on one subject), a major/minor (The emphasis is on two subjects but more on one of them), a double major (emphasis on two subjects), or an honours program (which entails more courses and a minimum GPA). Students may continue on to a Master's degree after a Bachelor's degree has been completed.
