In their free time, many Koinaeans go to the Arthur C. Clarke Library to read or watch broadcasts from Earth.
Reading on Koinae is different than reading on Earth. It isn't economical to send a ship full of books to Mars for the people there to read. So, the Koinae computer database contains over 1,000 stories, waiting to be called up on a Library computer terminal by anyone who wants to read them. For people who want to keep up to date with what's going on on Earth, daily news reports are broadcast out to Koinae via EarthCom.
The Arthur C. Clarke Library is named after Arthur C. Clarke, a novel and non-fiction writer in the the twentieth century. One of his most famous books is one he co-wrote with Stanley Kubrick and was then released as a movie in 1969, 2001, A Space Odyssey. It tells an awesome tale spanning from primitive man to vastly powerful aliens. It is a must for science fiction readers.
