The Personal Hygiene Facility provides the colonists with to do the basic things that people do to keep themselves clean and healthy. It includes 30 showers stalls, 30 sinks, 20 washing machines, and 20 dryers.
In Koinae, it is mandatory that everyone take a shower once a day. Uncleanliness can lead to disease, and, in a closed environment such as Koinae, if one person gets sick, it's likely that others will as well. Because of this, people in Koinae always brush their teeth after every meal and always wear clean clothing.
About every week, Koinaeans do their laundry. They do it in their spare time, usually after dinner. All of their clothes are washed in extremely hot water, again for health reasons.
Toothpaste and soap, both for the people and the clothes, must be brought from Earth, because Koinae doesn't have the appropriate materials or facilities to produce them itself. When the colony gets larger, however, things like soap will be manufactured on Mars.
