Real-time input/output devices

Buttons : Can perform a variety of functions. When you click on the "run" button shown on the right with your mouse in one of the simulations, you will activate the simulation. Other buttons include reset, pause, launch, clear, and stop.

Text fields : Allow you to type in a number within a predetermined range. Text fields is also use to display output. * Note text field with black text (figure 1) is an input text field and blue text (figure 2) is an output text field.

Scrollbars : Allow you to change value of input text fields and frame of animation. Figure 3 is an example of a scrollbar use in controlling frame of animation. Figure 4 is an example of a scrollbar use with text field. To change value of a scrollbar simply hold the mouse down on the vertical bar and while holding, slide left or right to the value desire. Then release the mouse button. You may also type in the value using the text field (figure 4). One can also change the value of the scrollbar by clicking on either side of the scrollbar, left to decrease and right to increase.

Error/Bugs

Solution(s)

  • Animation does not show up.
    The animation does not show up because :
  1. your browser is still loading the animation frame required by the applet, so wait for the applet to finished loading. Try moving the mouse in and out of the applet and see if the "Loading please wait..." message disappear, if it does it mean that the applet is done loading.
  2. you click the "run" button while the applet is trying to load its images. Try reloading the page. Do this by clicking on the "Reload" button on your browser.
  • I get a blank screen.


  • Try Clicking "Reload" or "Reset".


  • Scrollbar does not work
    The scrollbar does not work because :
  1. you are running Netscape Java Beta version for window 3.1.
