Drought Personal Account
Currently, The area surrounding where my family and I live is experiencing a
very severe drought. Our farm is in the North Eastern Darling Downs area near
Dalby and Bell. It really is the same drought which we have had for the past
seven years with an occasional 'break' where rainfall has been enough to grow a
crop or two and provide some grass growth. We have had to sell most of our
cattle this year because of drought and for the 50 or so cows we have left, we
are feeding them hay.
Even so, we are very thankful to God because of my wife and I have been able
to get off-farm work (we live about 25km north of Dalby).
There are many
people who haven't been able to do this and are finding it very hard to provide
for their families as well as pay all their bills.
