User Made Pages
SpaceWeb User Made Pages

In order to allow this site to grow in the future, we have decided to add a program that will let SpaceWeb users to produce their own pages and append them on to our site. Users can use this program to expand the information contained on this web site. Acceptable content will include: current events or information not included in this site (like the Hubble Space Telescope, a future Mars probe, etc.), new ideas (like an essay on how to build a cheap Space Station), or other appropriate space related pages.

If you wish to go ahead and try building your page (This page will stay in a separate browser window), click here.

It is recommended, however, that you get an introduction to our program first.

Table of Contents:

  1. Features

Features

This editor supports:

  1. Images
  2. Hyperlinks
  3. Unordered Lists
  4. Simple Tables
  5. 4 different font sizes: Normal (Smallest), Header 1 (Largest), Header 2 (Medium), Header 3 (2nd smallest).
  6. 4 different font attributes: Bold, Italic, Underline, and Center
  7. Paragraphs
  8. Line Breaks
  9. Horizontal Lines

The Basics

When the page loads up, you will see two frames, spaced almost equally two each other. First, adjust the frames so that you can just barely see the entire width of the frame on the left (a screen resolution of at least 800x600 is recommended). Then, login by entering your name and password(or pick a new one) in the frame on the right and clicking the "Edit Page" button. If your name has already been picked, the frame will just return to the original state. If that happens, pick another name or double check that you have the right password. If you successfully log on, then it will ask you to click the "Update" button. Click the "Update" button on the left frame and your page will appear.

If you are just starting your page, then "SpaceWeb User Page" will appear. In order to edit this (or any future additions), click the "Source/Edit" radio button near the bottom of the left frame and then click "Update." Make your edits in the large text box on the right, then click "Apply Changes." If you want to save your work to SpaceWeb, then click "Save". Or, if you want to return to the normal view, click the "preview" radio button.

Note: Never save the edit frame with to text in the Body text box(the large text box on the right.) If you do, it could lock up your browser

Adding Text

To start writing your page, you must add text a segment at a time. Every time you type text into the text box and click "ADD TEXT", you append a piece of text to the screen with the attributes you selected for it at the end of your page. Between adding text, you have the option of separating the two pieces of text. You can choose from a line break, new paragraph, or horizontal line. Once you click one of these buttons, it will be instantly added.

The attributes you can select for text include size, characteristics, and hyperlink. To choose the size, select from the dropdown list what size you want (Sizes are shown on the left). Then select any font characteristics you desire. These include: Bold, Italic, Underline, Center (Center does not work in all places). If you want your text to link to a different page, select that page from the dropdown list, just like the size.
