Shortly before W.W.II, rocketry started to take off (no pun intended). As it gained public interest, government and private groups established increasing numbers of rocketry programs. Russia, Germany, and America all did significant work on Rockets, and some work was also done in England and France. Although many government organizations were often short-lived and small, private associations were far more determined and willing to cooperate globally. Many of these "Rocket Clubs" have survived to the present day. Outlined below is each major country's rocketry activity for the period before World War II.
