Elder Wisdom

Elder Wisdom is a section designed to guide students through the process of interviewing an older person and publishing the interview on the LinkAge 2000 web site.
The section menu on the left contains the list of designated themes that serve as the topics for the interview. The themes are intentionally open-ended to accommodate the wealth of different areas in which the elderly can offer their wisdom.
Students who wish to conduct an interview should start by clicking on each theme and reading through the topics available for that theme. Next, the student should decide on a topic and conduct the interview using the examples for that topic. Finally, th e students may return to the section for their chosen topic and transcribe the interview into the space provided.
There are some general guidelines that need to be followed to ensure the privacy and consistency of the interviews. Students should not use the interviewee's name when entering the interview into the web page. Questions should begin with "Q:" and answer s with "A:" (see example). Students should also try to keep the interview under 15 minutes in order to maintain the focus on the theme. Finally, students should describe to the interviewee what they intend to use the interview for and make sure that thi s use of the interview is acceptable.
