CyberSeniors

There is a perception that persons 60+ have not had access to computer technology, are unable to learn to use computers and are uninterested in computers and the Internet. This is not the case. In 1996 the American Association of Retired People (AARP) estimated that over 2 million of their members are computer users and there are many more worldwide. Computer training classes for older adults have proven to be popular and successful in many countries including France, Ireland, Denmark, Canada and the U.S. There are also growing numbers of web sites for seniors, such as SeniorNet. Have questions for older adults? Try a senior site. Want to volunteer for an intergenerational activity? How about teaching computer skills and the Internet to the elderly at a senior center or your school?
