Alexander Lee, 14
I came from Hartford, Connecticut. I took my first step with my father in Manassas, Virginia. I have been living in Virginia for more than 13 years. My dad works for the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. My mom works for Lord & Taylor, a nationwide department store. My sister is in the Army. I had worked as the councilor-in-training in the Fairfax County Summer School Program for this summer and last summer.
"Roses are Red", of course. Red is my favorite color. Yoda say, "Judge me by my size, do you not!" and "Do or do not, there is no try". I like everything about Star War - Star War books, music, movies, toys, cards, Yoda, his quotes, CD-ROM games, and etc. I love to play video games - day and night - until 2 a.m. in the morning. Chicago Bulls is my team and soccer is my sport. I swim in the summer and ski in the winter. I ski better than my Dad.
I play both violin and viola. I have been playing the instruments for more than 5 years. I enjoy talking to Mr. Soohoo, my violin/viola teacher every Tuesday night. I love to dance and sing. I joined the Rocky Run Show Choir last school year. I got to practice dancing and singing at the school every day. I love every minute of it. Men in Black is my favorite song. I use personal computer to do my home work, browse the internet and play the games. I can't live a day without the personal computer.
James Arndt, 14
I was born in Peoria, Illinois, a small community outside of Chicago. My family moved to Centreville, Virginia when I was six years old. In third grade, I changed elementary schools to be in the Gifted and Talented Center at Greenbriar West Elementary School. During the summer before entering the fourth grade, I began playing a musical instrument like my older brother and sister. From that point on, playing the clarinet has made a signifigant impact on my life. Music is now a major focus of my activities. Annually, I participate in the District Solo and Ensamble Festival. For the past two years, I have preformed in the District XII Junior Band. I am now a member of the Chantilly High School Symphonic Winds and the Chantilly High Marching Band.
Outside of school, I enjoy listening to rock, R&B, ska, and vocalists. I usually watch Action/Adventure movies, but William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet (the modern version) is my favorite movie of all time. As for sports, I participate in indoor and outdoor track and occasionally watch football or hockey. I love to ski and canoe, but I only have the time go about once or twice a year.
I am an avid PC user, and detest the thought of working on a Mac. In my spare time, I'll fool around with editing pictures, but my system is slightly out of date. (It's a 486 running Windows 3.11) I have internet and E-mail access through Erol's Internet. My father is an architect working with the State Department. My mother teaches reading to elementary school students that are below grade level. Julie, my sister is a senior at Chantilly High School, and my brother, Jason, is majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech. I became interested with ThinkQuest because I always like trying something new, and the thought of creating a site on the internet seemed intriguing.
Shane Goldmacher, 14
I was born in San Francisco, and have been living here all fourteen years of my life. This year I graduated from Town School for Boys, and I will be attending Lowell High School next year. After school is over, I often play sports as the second baseman on my school team, and I occassionally golf. My favorite sport is baseball and the San Francisco Giants are my favorite team. I collect baseball cards as a hobby, and own over10,000 cards. My most valuable card is a 1978 Eddie Murray rookie card that I found on the street. I also participate in music on the cello in the Golden Gate Philharmonic. I am involve in many musical activities ranging from the national cello institute to private lession with Sien Lee. I also really enjoy using the computer. When my homework is done and I have practiced my cello I turn on my computer and explore. I really enjoy working with graphics and designing logos and so forth with Adobe Photoshop.
