Web coolness doesn't come cheap: to get Unica's full wiz-bang effect, you'll need a few things. Don't worry, you probably have everything already, but go through the list to make sure. If you're missing something, we've provided a link to download it, and you need to close your browser, OK, but don't forget to come back!

Browser
Unica Island is enhanced for recent versions of Netscape's Navigator and Microsoft's Internet Explorer. If you don't have one of these browsers, you can download their newest releases (both in version four) by clicking on the icons below. Once you've installed your new browser, just return to this page and continue the set-up process.

Flash
Unica uses Flash extensively. This plug-in, from Macromedia, gives you eye-popping animations that download in the blink of an eye. The plug-in is available separately or as part of the Shockwave player, and is in its second version. You should also note that our site uses the current Flash format, and the old FutureSplash player that Flash is based on will not work in Unica Island. Also, if you have Internet Explorer 3.0 or higher, Unica can automatically download the ActiveX version of Flash. If you are using Navigator, click on the icon to visit Macromedia's Shockwave/Flash site now.

Microsoft Trebuchet
Unica uses a new font called Trebuchet throughout the site. The site will look perfectly fine without it, but you can download it here if you wish. Trebuchet was developed by Microsoft, and is being distributed as a standard web font for its Microsoft Internet Explorer browser. If the underlined words look different, you already have it installed. Click the image below to visit Microsoft's Typography Site.

Great! You're all ready to explore Unica Island. But to make your first day on the Island really easy, we've created this helpful intro. When you think you're ready, click Next and we'll usher you into the Island.

The Navigation Bar
If your browser supports the Macromedia Flash plug-in, you'll always have a guide to the entire site on the top of the page. The simple navigation bar loads in seconds, letting you move around easily.

To use the navigation bar, simply run your mouse over one of the four section titles. The title will light up. Click on it, and all of the areas within that section will be displayed. Click on one of those areas, and the page will appear below.

Unica's Content
Unica Island is divided into four basic sections:
Main Street -
Your source for information on Unica Island. Team biographies, copyright info, and credits can be found in Town Hall, and you can access feedback and survey forms. If you ever need help, try Info Booth, Unica's assistance area.
The Library -
Unica Island's primary educational area contains dozens of articles containing great images, web links, and more! To access this wealth of information you can choose to browse by category, index, or search. You can also add your own content using The Scrapbook feature.
The School -
For more hands-on learning, try The School. You'll have access to some of our best content resources, engaging discussions and polls, and exclusive challenges, where you can submit your own essays, artwork, and more.
The Park -
Unica is about Communicating, so of course we have an entire section dedicated to exchanging information. The Park features a hosted message board, as well as complete access to our polls and The Scrapbook.

Getting Help
Using Unica Island is pretty straightforward. If you ever have any problem we want to know. We'll do our best to assist you, and make sure the problem doesn't happen to other people. The best place to start is the Info Booth, located in Main Street's Town Hall. There, you'll find detailed information sheets along with your options to contact Unica, and a link to our Frequently Asked Questions page.

That's about all you need to know. Click 'next' now, then click 'submit'. You'll be directed to the Unica Island Welcome Page, where you'll find highlights from Unica's best pages. When you return, just click "Enter Unica" to open The Welcome Page immediately. The page is produced dynamically, so it'll always have new suggestions on what to see. Enjoy!
