1595 England William ShakespeareRomeo & Juliet is written by William Shakespeare (considered by many to be the greatest English playwright of all time). His plays greatly influence our culture & language. 
 
1700s Europe/North America ... 

Newspapers begin to be circulated.Newspaper 
 
 

1700s- 1800s Europe Semaphore (a system of flag symbols) is used widely as a communications device. In France semaphore towers are set up within view of each other. It takes only 7 minutes to send a message from Paris to Brest. This system is later used in North America.
Early 1800s Development of Sign Language. It's controversial because many feel the hearing-impaired should learn to read lips). It doesn't become widely accepted until the 20th century.
1839 France Louis Daguerre shows his "daguerreotypes" in the city of Paris. They are the first permanent photographs.
May 24, 1844 England First public telegraph transmission by Samuel Morse (also the inventor of Morse Code).
Mar. 10, 1876 Canada Alexander Graham BellAlexander Graham Bell's first telephone message "Mr. Watson, come here; I want you."
 
Nov. 20th, 1877 USA The phonograph is invented by Thomas Edison. The first ever recorded/reproduced sound is "Mary Had a Little Lamb."
1884 USA First primitive television is invented.
1885 USA George Eastman markets the first box camera, the Kodak camera, for $25. Although photography is now 50 years old, this is the first camera simple enough for beginners to use.
1896 Italy First long- distance radio transmissin by radio inventor Guglelmo Marconi. He applies for a British patent.
1901 First transatlantic radio transmission
1920s USA Television boadcasting experiments.
1945 North America The general public of North America begins watching Television. It had been available before the war, in the 30s, and also two years earlier in England.
1946 USA ENIAC computer becomes world's first electronicc digital computer. It occupies the space of a garage. A modern handheld computer is far more powerful.
1980s North America Personal Computers become powerful, affordable, and practical.
1980s- present The Internet, originally designed in the 1970s as a communications system for the military, enters public use. It grows considerably in the next 15 years, and millions of homes and businesses worldwide are conected.
