Luxurious Life : Glow in the Dark
Luxurious Life : Glow in the Dark (part 1)
Bandung, may 3rd 2009
Yesterday was Saturday, tomorrow is Monday. Yes, it’s Sunday today.
Sunday evening. I’m bored of my routines. I want some refreshment. But
here is Bandung. It’s not hard to find places where you can have your
pleasure.
Anyway, let me introduce myself before I continue my story. My name is
Riandy, I am a student of SMAN 3 Bandung. Actually, I’m a foreigner
here, because I come from Semarang, Central Java. I think there so many
differences between Bandung and Semarang. Bandung has many unique
things, and I always want to know about that. That’s one of many
reasons why I want to start my journey here.
Luxurious Life : Glow in the Dark (part 2)
18.30
I am walking on Sukajadi Street. At a glance I can see hurly-burly of
human activity that look for some refreshment. But I think it’s too
extravagant for kind of refreshment.
Lines of private cars almost fulfill the capacious parking lot. Now
it’s getting darker outside, but Sukajadi Street still alive with the
crowd of transportations. Many big lamps are shining from a huge
building in front of me, just like fireflies in a dark room. Hmm, it
looks spend so much electricity.
Paris Van Java : Resort Lifestyle Place , an enormous text shown in the
main gate. This place is one of the most popular malls in Bandung. I’m
sure all of the people in Bandung know this mall. But, you have to know
something. You must have much money if you want to enjoy this mall,
yeah this mall is where High-Class people in Bandung go to refreshing
and shopping.
When I bought some French-fries in one food place in Paris van Java, I
must spent 21000 rupiahs, and that’s a big amount just for
french-fries! Well, this situation really shock me, because in the one
side, there are still too many poor people in Bandung, and maybe to get
21000 rupiahs they must work really hard in day and night, but in other
side there are people to easy to spent their money, and this is so
ironic! But it’s the fact, and there is no way to change the fact.
Luxurious Life : Glow in the Dark (part 3)
Back to my journey, after I ate my French-fries
I decided to walk around and I found a boutique and there is one price
tag for new comers shoes, and you know how much the price? The price is
about a million rupiahs! What a price! Umm.., maybe for you this not
high price, but for other people this amount is so big! And they can
buy more profitable things than shoes! Phew! Ok! But one more time,
that’s the fact!
After get shocked from the situation, I decided to go home. But there
still something disturbed my mind. Why must this ironic situation
happen? Will be there a way to destroy this imbalance? Or this
situation is the best situation? Compare to my hometown, life in
Bandung is harder, because in Bandung you must done all of your need by
yourself because all people in Bandung have their own business and of
course that’s so hard!
