What is food?
Anything that an organism injests or eats, in order to keep alive and active-is called as food. Every food contains certain elements that are necessary for the growth and development of the eater. Those elements are called as 'Nutrients'.
Necessity of food:
Food is most necessary for all types of living organisms. Lack of food in the past history has caused some nations to go at war. It had even brought defeat to many countries. Even in animals, we see dogs, fighting over loaf of bread or a piece of meat. The need of food, however has some scientific basis also. Our body needs certain elements for its building, growth, repair and fuctioning. All those elements are recieved through food only.
