Rock Music
Chuck Berry
Chuck Berry created Rock and Roll in 1955. He was black and playing music, but white kids were listening to rhythm and blues side to side with country music. The music industry understood that there was a white market for black music and social prejudice, could nothing against the forces of capitalism.
Rock and roll became a success overnight. The music industries promoted many white idols such as Elvis Presley, but he wasn't a real hero. People like Chuck Berry were. He made synergy between the performer and the audience. Black and white people began working together in their music. The impact lasted a long time. However, their careers didn't. They stopped recording for several reasons. White singers like Elvis Presley took over the music business. He often sang songs by black musicians. But the white musicians made the music gentler and gentler.
Origin
Rock and roll has a music origin like any other music genre. This started in about 1940. The upbeat Chicago style blues mixed their music with the African American R&B music. That created a totally new type of music. Most of the early artists didn't write their own songs, they only added a few touches to their old blue songs.
Rock and roll used to be pretty exclusive music, only open to the African Americans. Alan Freed from Cleveland, Ohio changed this. He observed that most white teenagers were frequently buying African American rhythm and blues albums in record stores. Then he began to market these music on the radio. He knocked down racial blockade, he also helped rock succeed mainstream success. Alan Freed was was responsible for setting up a few of the very first rock concerts.
