What can we do to increase their roles?

Art and music ARE important, as you have seen from our presentation. They have a long, varied history that has affected us for a long time and in so many ways.
But our group wants to know HOW we can bring the message to a wider audience!

  • Bands could give play free shows to promote themselves or try their best to get themselves signed to a record label.

  • i know some local underground bands in Hong Kong, I did an interview with them, asking them what affects their fame. And they said government is a problem, the government always use 'noise pollution' excuse to ban all these underground deathmetal, gothic metal etc rock band. I'm very angry at this. Actually many of the foregin bands, like Bullet For My Valentine, had tried to come to have shows in Hong Kong and China, but the government regard this as a bad influence and noise pollution. This affects the increasing of their roles. I think the government should open up themselves, musicians should try their best to gain chances to perform in the public.

  • TV is of course, the chief form of coummunicating towards a wider audience. Sites like youtube and google music have also serve as a great way for young artists and musicians to be discovered, as well as develop a wider range of music

  • Music today seems to be more about the artist then the actual singing. MORE TALENT IS NEEDED IF MUSIC AND ART CAN PLAY A BIGGER ROLE! We should really have more showsa like "American Idol" where the general public picks a singer, instead of big companies who mostly pick people becuase they come cheap and pretty-but without talent

  • We can increase the role by putting art and music into a more public arena.
For example, the government should not punish or ban street musicians and artists, as they do in Hong Kong. This will bring music and art to a wider audience.
