Custom House
Okay, now I will introduce the house custom in Indonesia to you. There are so many traditional houses in Indonesia, each province has different traditional house.
“Gadang House” that is the custom house from West of Sumatera province. This house has a unique that is a roof likes buffalo horn that made by fiber of palm tree. Gadang House there is a room that the room is a place of someone that have been married or a place of enthronement of custom head.
“ Joglo House” a custom house from Central Java province. This house as a status device by Javanese people. Joglo House likes the personality device of Javanese. So Joglo House is mind from Javanese.
“Honai House” is the custom house of Papua province. This house is made by a wood with the roof has trapeze shape that made of hay. Honai House is very small and don’t have a window with aim to arrest cool air from Papua Montain. Honai House divided intro three kinds. One, a house of male is Honai. Two, a house of female is Ebei. Three, a house of pig is Wanai. Honai,Ebei and Wanai is the Papuan language.
“Betang House” is the custom house from West of Kalimantan province. The shape is diametrical with the length is about 100 meters. It beamed of podium and the height is about one meter. The roof is made by wood. In the Betang House there are many bilikes (rooms). Every room there is one family.
“Limas House” is custom house of South of Sumatera province. This house named Limas (the Indonesian language of pyramids) because the roof of this house is like Pyramid’s shape.
“Lamin House” is the custom house from North of Sulawesi province. Lamin house is a big house. This house is look like gadang House. In the Lamin House, some of families stay together in the one big family in each clan.
