The impact of hunger
Crime rate
It started as a joke till then i realised that my friend named Sarah was serious.One day we were walking beside the main road going to school. A big truck carrying loads of maize meal coming across in a high speed , she said"If this truck gets into an accident before we help those people, we steal maize meal loads to our homes first to cook for our families."Protesting i said"no we can help those people and take nothing."She continued to say" You pretend to be a saint, you will die of hunger if you contunue to behave like that."While we were walking in my mind i deduced crime rate is pumped by poverty to increase and eradication of hunger can lead to diminished crime rate.
Xenophobic attacks
An incident occured once in our community that a five years old girl came running from the shop and told her mother that somalian people tried to rape her or kill because she was crying ,her mother could'nt hear the words clearly. Anger arose in that mother , she told yhe whole community in a mass meeting. Somalian people were attacked for something which was not valid to be true and even their shops were attacked for they had what the was looking for which was food and other things.Their shops were broken and people whatever they needed. My community used that incident as an excuse to break the shops to feed their families.Xenophobic attacks were inspired by unemployment and poverty.For lot of black South Africans who attacked African expatraites blame them for stealing their jobs and even saying they rather be sent to their homes before they get hurt.
Self-destruction
In my school in each classroom a girl sits with a boy on the same table. When i was doing grade ten it happened that the boy i was sitting with left school to look for a job to get money to feed his family and his died three years back. He didn't get a permanent job because he was unskilled and with no qualifications. For most of the posts that were advertised.
