Saving the world : Solutions
Observation
| This is what we observed during our research. Atmosphere pollution. | Is this the home to these monkeys? They are suppose to be living in their natural habitat. If they were to stay like this, the monkeys could get electrocuted anytime. |
Save our Biosphere
-
Create Forest Reserves
Creating forest reserves can mean a lot. This step requires the authorities’ full support. By reserving forests, the habitat of the animals will not be endangered. This is because the reserve area is a non-exploring zone. No exploration of minerals, forests or any thing of the sort is allowed. They will also be safe from hunters because reserve rules prohibit hunting. This way, the animals are safe from any threats.
-
Control Exploitation of an Area
If the exploitation of an area is controlled, the area will still have the best of it by the end of 5 years or more. The animals will and can be captured for safe keeping for a few years before they are released into another area. The first area will then be re-used after its full potential is used fully. By controlling the exploitation of an area, the animals may never see another forest for the rest if their lives because some controlled exploitation can keep forests in the same state for years and years to come.

Campaign by Enviromentalist
Effective campaigns can and will help in saving the biosphere. This effort has been done by many. People who commit themselves to saving the environment by campaigning or physical work are called environmentalists. Most of them work together in groups and campaign to save the environment. Many groups have existed and many more are being formed. An example of a successful environmental group is the World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF). They were founded in 1961 and have been active since then, going by the slogan “For a Living Planet”

Re-Use The Land
What is meant by reusing is the covering up of a mining zone that has run out of potential. The mining zone will be canvassed by soil from another area and slowly, it will grow plants as well as trees and animals will come back and make these reused areas their habitat once again. It is a beautiful sight to see, especially after seeing the landscape of the areas destroyed because of extreme mining. Some of the old mines can become plantations for crops, farming or as a place for tourism from lakes formed naturally.
-
Terraced Soil
Soil erosion is a major problem in farming as it disturbs the absorption of water into the soil. Erosion can be overcome by making terraced soil for crop farming. Steep slopes contribute to soil erosion as rain will erode the soil and potentially cause landslides, hence destroying the crops. Terracing is a suitable method for overpopulated farming that requires a lot of space. Open areas are more vulnerable to excessive loss of water but terraced soil can prevent it as it blocks the water from flowing down drastically.
-
Organic Materials
To have good, fertile soil, organic fertilizers are the best materials rather than using chemicals (phosphate, nitrogen and potassium). You must preserve the nutrients in the soil to create the best plants as they receive nutrients from the soil. Organic materials provide better nutrients and is free from polluting. Chemical fertilizers may influence the growth of plants but not the soil. Soon when the soil loses its fertility, it is not suitable for planting anymore. Other than that, frequent planting of the same plants will cause the soil to lose its specific nutrients needed, hence the plants are not of high quality and they are more exposed to diseases. It takes time to replenish them but organic materials can solve the problem because the nutrients contained are so natural that even chemical fertilizers invented cannot compete with them. Another solution is planting different species of plants to give time for other lost nutrients to be replenished.
-
Wastes Control
Wastes from industries contain dangerous substances that will simply 'kill' the soil and lose its fertility. The toxic substances like mercury and lead should be disposed of wisely or controlled in the amoun. Throwing them into the water will affect the soil around it, hence polluting that affected place. Littering contributes to lithosphere disruption because the bacteria contained can cause bad smell, pollute the air and spread diseases through the air. Try combining your organic wastes and converting them into organic fertilizers for farm use. This will reduce the rate of wastes disposal as they will end up buried in landfills and will pollute the soil fertility resulting from the wastes. Reuse your plastic bags to put things or for packaging. Chemical materials are indestructible therefore it is no use disposing them by burying.
Save our Hydrosphere
-
Stopping Deforestation
Deforestation is the main cause of water pollution. The trees that have been cut down are important because they act as a sponge to soak up rain when they come and channel it to the streams, rivers and lakes. Without the trees, rain water rushes directly into streams, flowing over exposed soil, picking up and carrying sediment pollution into nearby waterways bringing with them rubbish and garbage from the barren forest.
-
Agriculture
Agriculture is one of the ways to avert hydrosphere from being polluted. Dispose any pesticides, containers and tanks the right way. Other than that, any forms of farming and strip cropping to reduce soil erosion plus managing animal wastes properly will definitely help to prevent hydro pollution.
-
Around The House
We can do a lot of things around the house to help prevent this pollution. Dispose chemicals in an approved manner and pet wastes in the garbage or toilet. We should also recycle usable goods. Plant a ground cover and stabilize erosion flat areas to control soil erosion plus we should encourage the town to extend regulations on controlling water pollution.
-
Automobiles
Reducing pollution from oil and petroleum liquids. We have to make sure that our cars or any automobiles are not leaking with oil, antifreeze and other liquids. Do not pour the used oil and antifreeze into the lakes, rivers and streams; instead we should dispose them at a service station with a recycling centre or to a toxic waste centre. Other than that, we can also wash our automobiles at commercial car wash and other alternatives.
Save our Atmosphere
-
Use Catalytic Converters
Catalytic Converters convert harmful toxic substances into less harmful emissions before they leave the car's exhaust.
-
Carpool or Public Transport
This is a great way to reduce air pollution because if everyone carpools or uses public transport, it will reduce the amount of vehicles on the road, therefore reducing the amount of harmful emmisions.
-
Use Hybrid/ Electric/ Bio-fueled Cars
These vehicles release no harmful gases or reduce emmisions by switching to electricity when you are in a traffic jam or stopping at a traffic light.
-
Walk or Cycle
Walking or cycling is a fantastic way to prevent air pollutin. Walking or cycling does not emit any harmful gases and it does not cost any money, except to buy the bicycle.
-
Telecommunication
Telecommunication can also decreases the amount of air pollution. If you send emails instead of letters, the mailmen do not have to send your letter with a car or other means of transport. Also, if you shop on-line, the only emmision involved is the delivery service.
-
Flue Gas Desulphurization
By installing this system to factories all over the world, we can cut off the amount of Sulphur Dioxide being dumped into the air.
-
The Government
The government can play its role in reducing air pollution. The government can do this effectively by enforcing new laws and campaigns. Warnings and charges can be issued to people who break these new rules. Some of these new laws may include fitting catalytic converters to every car, and some of these campaigns may include promoting public transport.
