Basic, General Facts of Water

The Essence of Life
Water is the essence of life, it is the miracle substance that sustains all forms of life from the smallest one celled organism such as bacteria that is invisible to the naked eye to the biggest animals such as whales that rules the vast oceans.
Approximately 65% of human body tissues is made up of water. Water helps our body to transport blood and oxygen to various key organs such as the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and other parts of the body.
Water is continuously lost through our bodies via evaporation and perspiration which in part helps to keep our bodies cool - a very cool fact! At the same time we also excrete water through urination and defecation. A healthy adult can lose between eight to 10 cups of water daily
As such experts have recommended that everyone drink at least six to eight glasses of water a day. If we do not replenish this water lost, there will be detrimental health effects and if this is prolonged, we will dehydrate and eventually we will die. We can only survive for several days without any water
