    Batu Caves is a limestone hill, located in Gombak district.

    The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, dedicated to Lord Murugan.

    It is the location for Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia which attracts over 1.5 million peoples every year, making it one of the largest annual gatherings anywhere in the world.

    The limestone forming Batu Caves is said to be around 400 million years old.
  • 5. 
    Batu Caves was promoted as a place for pray by K.Thamboosamy Pillai, an Indian trader.
  • 6. 
    Since 1892, the Thaipusam festival in the Tamil month of Thai(which falls in late January/early February) has been celebrated here.
  • 7. 
    Wooden steps up to the Temple Cave were built in 1920 and now it had been replaced by 272 concrete steps.
