Kwame Francis Nwia Kofie Nkrumah was born in the former Gold Coast on 21 September 1909 to madam Nyaniba,a retailer and fathered by a Goldsmith.Kwame was of Nziba tribe and his home town was based in Nkroful. Then Gold Coast, present day Ghana, was under oppressive British colonisation. This was the foundation of Kwame's hankering for liberty.Baptised a Roman Catholic,Nkrumah went to a number of Catholic Schools and soon enough a government training school,Achimota 'the great'.
Emotions fled high with elation when he was admmitted into Lincoln University in the United States of America by the rally bound of Nnamdi Zikiwe. This cupid,Zikwe, also happens to be 'the first ever president of Nigeria'. He saw immense potential for a leader in Kwame during his early years. The all grown up Kwame Nkrumah was a very ambitious man.His ambition drove him to finally freeing Gold Coast of colonial power and being the first black President in Africa. In his speech, which he chose to call the midnight speech,Kwame Nkrumah inspiritingly said that Ghana can only be really independant only if it helped other African states be free of colonial rule.Kwame really was the best of his time, and his name will live long in the hearts of all Ghanaians and the rest of Africa.
The United States of Africa!
Kwame Nkrumah is the man who first came up with the idea of having the United States of Africa, this was his vision for Africa. In the previous AU sumitt, there were extensive talks on establishing Kwame's vision. It may be slow, but Kwame's dream is gradually turning into a reality, with a lot of member states of the AU agreeing that Africa should be recognised as one body.Evidently, the African leaders have not forgotten the ideas of the eminent Kwame Nkrumah.
