Meaning of Bissakh & Topic definition
My views
In our society there are many people who belief in some folkways, it is said that behind this beliefs there may be some stories or some rituals .People have been following this from generation to generation but it is not found in any books. There are no scientific proofs behind this believes but people still believes in it.
In our Assmese society this type of beliefs are also exist. For instance, it is believed that in the evening time which is known as 'Kal sandhya’ people should light diyas and offer their prayers. It is also believed that in the night people shouldn't eat bitter vegetables like, bitter - gourd. People shouldn't cut hairs, nails, they must not throw their garbage, shouldn’t cut bamboo in the night etc. These are the beliefs which people follow it without defining any reason.
There also many stories behind these beliefs - such as the evolution of Kamakhya Temple of Guwahati, story of the Demon king 'Hiranyakakahipur' and Lord ‘Narasingha’, the story of ‘Beola’ and’ Lalhinder’ and much more.
This belief has both positive as well as negative impacts on the people. If we think in positive sense then we finds that scientifically there is a morel behind this every beliefs through which we can create a healthy society. For instance when people clean their home in the morning and evening it gives a fresh feeling to health and mind. There are some kinds of food which cannot be digested by a human body in night. So it should be avoided. This belief gives us a faith in God and thus ultimately it gives a mental satisfaction, which helps us to create a healthy society.
Although negatively we don not find much of any impacts in these folkways but beside this, there are some ill literate people who follow it blindly and make a misuse of it, thus it affect their health.
MEANING OF BISSAKH
I choose the topic Bissakh which means "Belief" because it means faith and it is the faith that tie the whole society in one chain and help us to look forward for better one.
As Assam is an agarian state and most of the population depends upon agriculture. The light of new global world haven't touched the environment of Assam .So, people over here are not yet developed due to their blind-faith and they easily believe on what is told to them without trying to know the actual reason, In this way these superstitious have taken root in our society. Even the youngsters are to compelled to follow this without their willingness. But nowadays, the teenagers do want to know the reason and doesn't want to follow without the perfect reason.
About my topic and my views
Now something about my project:-
My project is all about my local surroundings. Though it is in my surroundings, but it has been very difficult to go through each and everything. So, I choose to take a selective. My project is about beliefs in different parts of world. So, I and my group members choosed our home state i.e. Assam. Since my project is about the beliefs of Assam, I thought of giving the topic name as `Bisshakh’. Being an Assamese, I am not new to these beliefs, (as I have been listening about them since my childhood from my parents, grandparents, elder, etc). Although, I don’t have the full idea, but still I will try my best to collect and convey the same to you.
Now, comes the question that what Bisshakh or Belief is? It is nothing but a question which has no answer or merely a thought or idea or imitation of any rites or rituals which is performed by someone without any cause and others just simply believing it and take it as a belief. Although, we have no proofs regarding their existence.
Here another question arise that whether there is something real behind the beliefs or it is just a superstitions? I tired to bring out the reasons behind the beliefs on the basis of people’s thought. Infact, I myself won’t be able to remove this confusion but still, definitely for the people who believe these, it won’t be superstitions for them.
My views and topic defintion
I have made my best effort possible and make it more informative, interesting and fun-reading for the readers. The topic of the project is ‘Bisshakh’ and this name is choosed so that it can justify the matter of the project. The project is on the beliefs and faith of the people and is carried on from generations to generations from the past. Our main aim of choosing this topic is just conveying a small mass of information among youths of our future world who are still unknown to certain facts or primitive beliefs. As a descendant of our ancestors we are supposed to know these facts, whether we believe them or not; we should never laugh at them but should respect this belief. This project will help you to know about various beliefs and faith of the people of Assam.
‘Belief’, what is belief? This question always comes to mind. Belief is a strong feeling that something or somebody exists or is true. This strong feeling has made people to form many rites and rituals in the past and they can even carry out in today’s world as it passes from generations to generations. Today many people think this rites and rituals to be superstitious and many people even carry out with utmost believe and faith.
According to me, all these rites and rituals are based on the beliefs of people. For those who believe it is a strong feeling with justified truth and those who don’t they take it as superstitions and fake.
Meaning of Bissakh & Views
What is Bissakh? Bissakh is an Assamese word which means Belief. Belief is strength, Belief is power, Belief is victory. Belief according to me is an unexplored truth or an unjustified thought or reality which stays in the mind of a man in form of incomplete ideas or unconventional truth. People start believing things to exist in reality. There is always a doubt in one's mind regarding some ideas or beliefs.
Our topic is beliefs of people in different parts of the world. So being a citizen of Assam me and my group members have decided to take the belief of Assam. Although I belong to a caste and tradition i.e., totally different from those of Assamese people, I still carry a small idea about the beliefs prevailing here and I look forward to gather more information and conveying them to you.
When we believe, strength is realised from us and for us. The moment we believe in something we suddenly have many reasons to support our beliefs. and there will be many arguments to oppose all doubts. Everything we do proceeds on beliefs and not on certainties. Our beliefs shape our actions. We undertake a journey believing that we would reach destination. We began a business believing that we would reach destination.
Beliefs reinforce thoughts. We can enhance our health, build success and achieve happiness by the thoughts our entertain. Those who say that they believe in certain things, but donot live by their beliefs, donot really believe. Their expressions of belief are merely skin-deep
Meaning of Bissakh
Bissakh according to me is an unidentified fact or unjustified truth which may has or may not have any true existence other than what people say or preach.I chosed the topic of vishwas,as i was very keen to know about the various beliefs of Assam.I surveyed many local places to know about the beliefs.According to me,beliefs are nothing but the trust of soul on something which is going on from the long past.Beliefs are mainly related to God. We the people of INDIA are very blind followers. If we see something awkward we start worshipping them and if our wants are fulfilled again and again ,by praying to this awkward things, then within somedays it is considered as a belief, that if we pray to this things,we will get the benefit and if we dont we will suffer.
