Wind Tools

By:Carlos

How can we take better care of our world and its environment? There are lots of wind tools such as a weather vane which shows you which way the wind is blowing, an anemometer which measures wind speed. The weather vane has different names such as a wind vane and a weathercock. Weather vanes are generally decorative; sometimes they have a rooster on top of them. The word 'vane' comes from the Anglo-Saxon word 'fane' meaning 'flag'.

The anemometer is one instrument used in a weather station. The term is used from the Greek word anemos, meaning wind. The first anemometer was created by Leon Battista Alberti. Anemometers can be divided into two sections, those that measure wind pressure and those that measure wind velocity. All in all, those are the main wind tools.
