Advantages and Disadvantages to Wind Energy
How can we take better care of our world and its resources? One way is we can use windmills except that there are some pros and cons to wind energy. Some of the advantages are that wind energy is fueled by wind that makes it a clean fuel source. Wind energy doesn’t pollute the air like power plants and with wind energy you can’t cause acid rain or greenhouse gases. Wind energy does not run out like fossil fuel. Wind energy is one of the lowest priced energy technologies today costing 4-6 cents per hour/kilowatt. Usually we have to get fossil fuels from a different country but we have wind energy right here in the U.S. Wind energy cannot be stored but you can store it in batteries. Wind energy would cause a lot of new jobs for people. Here are some disadvantages about wind energy and windmills. Wind does not always blow when electricity is needed. Good wind sites are located in remote locations that are located far away from cities where electricity is needed. Some people don’t like the noise and the appearance of the windmills. Birds have been killed by flying into the blades of the windmills. A good place for windmills is near the coast where land is expensive. Those are the advantages and disadvantages of wind energy.
