Testing The Windmill

After Team 2 built the windmill, we tested it out. We turned the fan on low, and it was going kind of fast, but not very much. Then we turned the fan on medium, and the windmill was going fast! I was shocked, because the windmill was going fast, and the fan was only on medium. Next, we turned the fan on high, and it went really fast! I couldn't believe it. I was so happy to see our windmill go so fast, and still be so stable! I was so proud!

How Team 1 Designed The Blades

In my team there is Jakob, Emanuel, Fid, Deshawn, Ashley, and Gabe. We split up in two teams of three, so each team builds one windmill. You might be wondering what shape we used for our windmill blades. We had to choose between the rounded shape blades and the rectangle shape blades. But, in the very end, we decided that we were going to use the rounded shape blades, because the rounded blades generated more energy than the rectangle blades. But without the gear box, the blades get less energy, but in the kits that Mr.Wulff gave us, there was some gears, and now our windmill blades go faster, and they can get more energy. We also figured out that if the blades are 18 inch, it gets less if it is 12 inch. It creates more electricity if you have 8 inch blade. We chose the 12 inch blades, because we got into a mix up. After we test those, we are going the cut it into 8 inch blades, and we hope that we will make more electricity. Next, we are going to talk about thematieral. We had three choices. We could use corrugated plastic, cardboard, or balsa wood. We didn't have cardboard, so we had to use balsa wood.
