On the west of Riyue mountain ,there is a river, which is not very big and its length is only 42 km. This is the Daotang River, Beause its water flow in a back way, so named Daotang River. General speaking the flowing direction of river is from west to east, especially in Qinghai-Tibetan plateau. But the Daotang River in a opposite way to flow from east to west from Riyue mountain. Until the spring melting season or the autumn rainy season, the quantity of river increases suddenly.
Why the Daotang River flow east to west? There was a beautiful legend which is also spreading between in Tibetan. At that time,princess Wencheng married to Songtsen, and passed this place. She can’t write seden chair to go west any more, but ride house to pass the grassland. The deep she went into the west, the more missing of her homesick and her relatives. She took out the Riyue mirror which was sent by her father and her mother. From the Hokyo, she could see the scene of Changan and her relatives. When she saw the scene of majestic palace and the beautiful and richly endowed hometown. Thinking to stay away from state of parents, and would never come back, she can’t falling down tears. Along the way, the tears of princess flowed into a river. From now on, there is a river flowing from east to west named Daotang River. In order to firm the policy of co-marrige, she threw her Riyue huyko to the Chilin, and determined to go the west wholeheartedly. From then on ,Chilin renamed Riyue mountain. How is it?
