Projects in the world using technology

  • "Así se aprende en Chile hoy"

The government of Chile along with a national newspaper create a project called “Así se aprende en Chile hoy” (this is how we learn in Chile today) this project stimulates students of Chile to use and to take control of the technology thus to be able to have an education of quality, increasing the existing computational equipment in the Chilean scholastic system hoping that this improves the results of the learning in the process of education. The project states clearly that in the society of nowadays, is fundamental to be connected with these tools from the early age. The digital technologies add value to the process of education only when there is a change on the pedagogical practices, is not enough to fill a school with computers making it seem as a modern one, if the scholastic community doesn’t take control and used them.

  • "Handhelds in the classroom"

The organization of Education World looks at four schools that integrate handhelds into their classrooms; probably this is the largest of several programs exploring the use of handheld devices in education. Handhelds are what we commonly called as personal digital assistants (PDAs). Handhelds provide to students true technological innovation in education In walery’s district about 65 teachers and 1.800 students use this devices as part of this project. Every student found different ways to use them. Today students no longer have to lug around heavy dictionaries because they can install them on their handhelds devices. Handhelds have a big problem, they are mostly used on business, that’s why on their applications we could only see word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software, that’s why developers have been studying the possibility of including on handhelds applications such as grade books, organizers and programs that allows students to brainstorm among others

  • "Building the school of the future" (by Microsoft)

The School District of Philadelphia and Microsoft have worked together on an ambitious and purposeful task: To build a School of the Future. Now in the 21th century employers seek employees with longer curriculums and a more advanced education than their ancestors. For these reasons Microsoft and the school district of Philadelphia create a public school with 750 students only, the goal of the project is to create an educational model that can contribute all communities around the world, having the technology as the centre of it. What Microsoft do was not to provide with money, material or equipment, instead they made a great contribution with his intelligence, organization, and experience. Microsoft helped to manage the project, and design of it. This school has in each corner different technologies, including lockers that need smart cards for getting access to them, and windows that are also solar panels which provide energy to the school.
