The far north of Chile
The far north of Chile is extremely arid, here you can find de Atacama desert (one of the driest of the world), the temperature of this regions are between 14 and 20,5 °C during the winter, most of its population lives in the coast where the humidity is higher and the temperatures are more moderate. (Rex A. Hudson, 1994) The north of Chile is commonly forgotten for the tourists because the only thing they relation with Chile is Santiago. Chile´s north is very important there are many pretty and unknown places; some of them are Moon Valley, Chungara Lake and Tatio Geyser.
Tatio Geyser is a place located in the Andes Mountains very near to San Pedro de Atacama 4.320 meters over the ocean level (Wikipedia, 2009). This place is very pretty because you can see the little water explocions on the ground and even though there the temperature is usually under 0°C the water of this geysers is boiling under your feet. Here are more than 80 active geysers which is an 8% of the total amount of geysers in the world. (Wikipedia 2009)
Chungara Lake is situated in the Tarapacá Region. This is one of the highest lakes in the world 6.348 meters over the ocean level. (Wikipedia 2009) this lake is gorgeous, with a light blue color and the Parinacota volcano at the back this might be one of the most remember able landscape.
Moon Valley is a desertic landscape in Antofagasta región located near to San Pedro de Atacama, In 1982 it was declared nature sanctuary and it is part of Reserva Nacional Los Flamencos. (Wikipedia, 2009) this place is part of salt mountain which was formed million years ago because of the wind and rains. A characteristic of this place is its inhumed atmosphere and its unique flora and fauna finding just some Liolaemus that are a tipe of lizard. (Wikipedia, 2009)
