Carbon Steel

Carbon Steel is steel where the main alloying component is carbon. Higher carbon content lowers the melting point and its temperature resistance. The carbon reduces the mobility of dislocations, which in turn has a hardening effect on the iron.

P.S.s and File Chips

Portable Screens are the smaller version of the schoolwide screen. Each student has their own page and can access the school screen system at any time on their screens. All the information they save can be put on the File Chips, which are worn around the neck. Portable Screens (P.S.s) are solar powered and can be layed out by a window or in the sun to charge. All they need is five minutes of sun to last a full school day, which is about eight hours.

Fingerprint Scanners

Fingerprint scanners are on all the lockers and some of the doors. On the first day of school, the fingerprint scanners are reset by the S.S.C. and the students touch their fingerprints to them, setting them individually. They work simply: the student touches their finger to the scanner, the red light moves up and down three times (scanning their print), and the locker makes a solid click and pops open.
