INTRODUCTION (Part 1)
Introduction.
Everyone of us as individuals go through our lives day by day while learning something new each day. Every day we go through, we gain more experience that helps our knowledge grows wider. It doesn’t make much difference of who we are or what we do for a living, life teaches us new things everyday.
In every different level of our lives, we have each different teachers who gives us our knowledge that we have today. Everything we learn from is our teachers.
Like in high school, school without our beloved irritating teachers would probably be like our favorite food without its hot spices. For every subject we have for school, we have different kinds of teachers. When we don’t like the teacher, we try to like the subject to make it easier, or we might as well just not care at all. No matter what it’s like, we can’t deny how much we need them. Same goes to the subjects we learn at school.
Nowadays as technology grows more and more, a lot of people become more attracted to subjects that are related to technology. Subjects like history are almost forgotten. But maybe it’s us who has forgotten the importance of history, what history really is. We don’t only need to know about the future and present, the past matters too.
So, what is history?
Let’s open up our dictionaries and see the real definition of history.
It is said, that history is :
a. A chronological record of events, as of the life or development of a people or institution, often including an explanation of or commentary on those events
b. A formal written account of related natural phenomena
c. A record of a patient's medical background.
d. An established record or pattern of behavior: an inmate with a history of substance abuse.
INTRODUCTION (Part 2)
In theory, history is the study of the past. It puts special attention to the written records of the activities of human beings over time. It is a field of research which uses a narrative to examine and analyze the sequence of events, and often attempts to investigate objectively the patterns of cause and effect that determine events.
History holds a thousand messages and meaningful secrets waiting to be discovered. It has a deep function that is very useful for us. It is there for a subject for a reason. Not only to learn about the past, but to also take the lessons from the past, and apply it to our lives for our present and future.
People have forgotten the importance of history. What history holds and what an important role it plays in our life. Function of history itself is forgotten.
So no, history is not just a subject at school.
Our past is history.
Our life, all of us are going to be history.
History is universal.
It is our hidden treasure waiting to be found and explored.
It is somehow, our silent teacher.
The world’s silent teacher.
