Visit to S.P.Printers, A Printing Press

The visit to SP Printers
It was about 12'o clock and the sun above us shined very brightly. I was sweating. I, Abdul, Rimi, and Akhil-all of us went inside a printing press named 'SP Printers'. Our school diary is printed there; and once when the owner of the press came to the school, we took his permission about visiting the press. First, we introduced ourselves. Then we said that we are participating in a ‘Narrative Competition’ organised by the ‘Oracle Education Foundation’ and with regard to that needed to see how a printing press works. Then the Manager [as the owner was out of town] showed us around. However, at first he hesitated and said that the owner may object but as we pleaded and explained, he allowed us to take the pictures. He also told us how the printing press works and how the pages are printed. Then we went inside a room which was full of many computers and people working on them. This was actually the page maker room [which you can see below]. He said that here they write a specific copy and then print many copies from it. Then we took many pictures which included a picture with the Manager of the printing press. After that we thanked him and left. I was feeling very happy at the moment as our visit to ‘SP Printers’ went well. This visit has helped me a lot to understand how a book is printed. It involves a lot of hard work and from now on I will take extra care of my book. I just loved this visit because this visit opened my eyes to a new world- the world of printing.
The Visit to the Printing Press
I, along with my three friends, Akhil, Rimi and Debargo went to visit a printing press named S. P. Printers. First of all we entered their office, and introduced ourselves to the manager. The owner was out of station, and therefore, the manager hesitated to show us around. He hesitated because we said that we would be taking some pictures. We explained to him that the visit is an educational tour; and we had already discussed the matter with the owner. Then they started showing us their printing machine; and told us about how it works, and where they put the ink, and where the control panel is. After that we were shown the paper cutting machine which smoothly cuts through large chunks of paper as if the paper is butter. This machine cuts different sizes of paper from a big sheet of paper. We also saw their godown which is full of packed printed material ready to be despatched. After that we were shown the computers and the printers. There two people were working on adobe pagemaker. Then we thanked the manager and left the premises of the printing press. It was a great experience for me and my friends because that visit was an eye opener as we came to know about the amount of toil and effort that goes into the making of a book. We decided that we would take very good care of all our books as books are produced after a lot of hard work; and the best way of appreciating that hard work is by taking good care of the books.
