Healthy Eating

Some people believe that they only have to exercise to be healthy. Those people think that as long as they burn off the calories it's okay to eat junk food. They are wrong! Eating nutritious is a huge part of being healthy.
Fats are a big part of every diet. Stay away from trans and saturated fats. They have no nutritional value. Eat monosaturated fat and polyunsaturated fat. No more than 30 percent of your calories should come from fat.
Now, let's talk about what you should be putting in your body. Did you know, one bag of salted potato chips has 1192 milligrams of soduim, which is 50 percent of your daily value; and 25 grams of saturated fat, that's over 24 percent of your daily value? Instead of eating all that trash, you could snack on one large apple with no fat and only two milligrams of sodium. Fast foods leave out vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Instead, they contain artificial flavors, preservatives, and saturated fat. All of which are very unhealthy. Always use fresh ingredients to make your own dishes; don't eat pre-packaged or microwave meals. Eat brown rice insead of white. It tastes about the same and is a lot better for you. You should always eat things that have the word "whole" in their title. Such as: whole wheat bread. When eating vegetables, the more colorful it is, the better it is for you. Look for dark greens, reds, and oranges. Have you ever heard of the saying, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away"? Well, it's true! You're actually supposed to get at least five servings of fruit and/or vegetables every day.
Remember to stay away from bad foods and always think healthy!

Genetic Affects

Have you ever wondered if you can be born with obiestity or if it is something that just happens? If both of your parents have obesity, you will have a better chance of being obiest. Obiestity is 70 percent genetically determind and 30 percent enviormentally determined. For an example; you could be raised around a plentiful amount of junk food, you would probably be way over weight because of the environment you live in. Or you could be over weight from your parents genes. If your parents are obiest as a child, you will not automatically be obiest. Even though there is a bigger chance of it, it is not certain. Obiestity is commonly found in women, so the genetics are stronger than in men. If you have a weight issue, you may want to consider going to your doctor to find a healthy way to fix it.
If you are over-weight because of genetics, don't give up. You still need to exercise and eat healthy.

Exercise

A way to stay healthy and live a longer, happier life is to exercise and stay active. By doing that, you could go to a local gym or work out at home.
Did you know that you burn more calories sleeping than watching television? The reason for this is because you take in heavier, deaper breaths and some people also toss and turn when asleep. Television, you just rest your mind and sit, stand, lay, etc.
Make sure that when you exercise, you don't push yourself way to hard because you may go over your bodies maximum limit. It is vital that you always stretch before you start your work out. What happens if you don't, you could pull a muscle. Pulling a muscle is painful. If you feel excrutiating pain, you may want to stop and possibly get a trainer.
Feel the burn! When you run, do you feel a burn sensation in your thighs and stomach? Well thats a good thing! That means you are burning calories and building muscle. Always remember to take in deep breaths and drink lots of water. Drinking a lot of water while working out is important so you don't get dehyderated.
Do you feel bored when you're exercising so you just want to stop? A way to fix that problem is you could turn on a c.d. player, nano, radio, etc. The music can take your mind off of the burn and before you know it, you've been exercising for hours! A reasonable amount of exercising time would be about one hour a day, five days a week. If you go to school, you can do an after school activity (which is usually cooperable with your school hours).

Please take exercising in to consideration for your own health.
