The decision of the theme of the activity
The successful host of Olympic Games 2008 in China makes Beijing the most attractive city. In the process of organizing the Game, the Olympic committee first brought out the slogan “Humanistic Olympics”. Then what can stand for Chinese culture better than jade? With the opening of this Olympic game, people all over the world come to know the Kunlun Jade – a spirit from Kunlun Mountains. As the children of Qinghai, we are really proud of it and eagerly want more people to know it, understand it. At the meantime, we want more people to understand the jade culture which is extensive and profound throughout the Chinese history for 7000 years. So we decide on “the Spirit of Jade” as the theme of this activity.
Our plan for activity
In the previous literature collection, we know that jade processing is divided into four steps, such as cutting, filing, carving, and polishing. An idea occurs to us that our plan could be carried out as searching, realizing, pondering and appreciating, like the process of jade carving. Searching is to looking for the Kunlun jade around us, realizing is knowing the Kunlun jade and its culture primarily, pondering is exploring the process of carving and polishing in order to understand the jade deeply, appreciating is enjoying the beauty of Kunlun Jade and learning its extensive and deep culture. Thus we can do our activity according to the plan. We are confident to do this activity better.
