The tale of kunlun jade
Today, mother tells me a tale about Kunlun Jade: It is said that long long ago, there was a village called“Mason-wide” in Qinghai province . The village was home to an old mason. He had a daughter called“Yucui” and an apprentice called “Yulang”. Yulang was so honest 、easy-going and diligent that he was praised by the whole village. The old mason betrothed his daughter to Yulang. On the day of their marriage,the emperor ordered Yucui to enter the palace. The old mason shredded the imperial decree under panic. The imperial hacked the old mason to death and brought Yucui to the palace. In this scene, Yulang went to catch up with her at all speed, but was killed by indiscriminate stick. On the third day, all of a sudden came an elderly person. He was a state public. He said to Yucui: “Good girl, promised to the emperor, I can help you.” On hearing this, Yucui asked the old man what to do. After the state public left, Yucui called the servants for meal and then let them dress up for her. Meeting with the scene, the eunuch reports to the emperor as soon as possible. On hearing this , the emperor was very pleased. Yucui requested to hold a memorial ceremony to her father and then she would come back to the “Mason-wide” village, and cried madly in Yulang’s and her father’s graves. Then all of a sudden Yulang’s grave because a big mountain. The mountain split down at the middle, there was a stone gate in the huge slit. Yulang stood aside the gate and waved to Yucui with full smile on his face .seeing Yulang, Yucuijumped to the stone gate .A big bang, the crack was closed,the earth restore to calm .This is Kunlun Mountain. Soon, the villagers of “Mason-wide” found a layer of translucent green stone in the green signs.The stone can be used to cut and polish into jade. It’s invaluable treasure. The jade of these two color s had become the most precious Kunlun Jade. This is the legend of Kunlun Jade.
“A dream of Red Mansions” and Jade Culture
The Chinese classic work “A Dream of Red Mansions” is world famous, but, do you know it’s also a book which described Chinese jade culture?

CaoXueqin borrowed jade to shape the image of Baoyu and many other pure daughters. The story of “Heshi Jade”
Story content: It’s said that in Spring and Autumn period, a chugou person-Bianhe was cutting wood in Jin hill, he found a phenix.Lying in a piece of green stone. Phoenix will not fall where there is no treasure. Bianhe believed that this green stone was treasure, so he decided to dedicate the stone to the Kingchu. At that times,the king of Chu was King Li. In fact, he attached great importance to the matter. He met with Bianhe in the palace,with a verygrand manner. Unfortunately, the king’s mason was a mediocrity, he didn’t think the stone was a treasure. He said Bianhe deceive the king with an ordinary stone. Thus, the bad tempered king commanded samurai cut down the left foot of Bianhe. Later, king Li died, his son was following the throne. Bianhe dedicated the precious stone to king Wu. As a result, the encounter was not good. Bianhe’s right foot was cut off. He became a man without feet. Later, king Wu’s son king Wen inherited the throne,Banhe still wanted to dedicate the precious stone ,but he had no foot,so he can’t walk. Thus, he embraced the stone which was destined to become fan to china, crying for three days and nights, his tears dried off and his eyes cried blood.Some one reported this matter to the King. King Wen sent servants to ask Bianhe:”Many people were cut off feet in the world, they were not so sad as you.” This question had made Bianhe feel more aggrieved,depressed and sad. Bianhe said:”I cried not because my feet were cut off,but this piece of gem stone to be regarded as an ordinary one. Subordinates reported this word to King Wen, King Wen was very shocked, he sent servants to pick up Bianhe to the palace. Then the King invited the best mason in the country. They opened the rock, there was a crystal and clear stone through the ages. This is the famous story about Heshi Jade.
